- To cultivate an understanding of music as a gift from God intended to be
used as an aesthetic manifestation of His goodness, truth and beauty.
- To cultivate a desire to image God in our creative endeavors, for His glory
and mankind’s pleasure.
- To explore and recognize the fundamental elements of music—rhythm,
melody, harmony, texture, and form.
- To build a working vocabulary of musical terms.
- To identify the symbols used in music notation and develop a f uency in
reading music.
- To expose students to the flow of music history through the biographies
of various composers.
- To explore the role of music in various cultures, current and past.
