  KINDERGARTEN
  • Explore sensorimotor attributes such as non-locomotor skills, balance,
    locomotor skills, manipulative skills, body awareness, spatial awareness and
    rhythm concepts
  • Develop sensorimotor attributes through practice and play until the neuro
    muscular pattern becomes automatic
  • Understand basic fitness concepts and some of the benefi ts of being
    physically active
  • Relate to others positively by sharing, caring and playing fairly
FIRST GRADE
  • Rehearsing non-locomotor, locomotor, and balance skills through practice
    and play
  • Learn manipulative skills
  • Continue exploring creative movement perception skills: body awareness,
    spatial concepts, and rhythm concepts
  • Understand basic heart function and other fitness concepts
  • Continue to develop socially while learning concepts of sportsmanship and
    cooperation
SECOND GRADE
  • Develop or improve specific motor abilities such as: balance, speed, agility,
    power and coordination
  • Develop integrative movement skills (combination skills) through practice
    and play
  • Explore gymnastic-type activities to integrate motor proficiency skills and
    creative perceptions
  • Understand the importance of regular exercise and expressive play
  • Recognize integrity as part of their personal responsibility to God and others
THIRD GRADE
  • Develop or improve specific motor abilities such as: balance, speed, agility,
    power and coordination
  • Develop integrative movement skills (combination skills) through practice
    and play
  • Explore gymnastic-type activities to integrate motor profi ciency skills and
    creative perceptions
  • Understand the importance of regular exercise and expressive play
FOURTH GRADE
  • Develop specific sport skills through learning practice drills and modified
    game play
  • Learn rules for various sports
  • Build health and fitness through a continuation of strength and flexibility
    conditioning with new emphasis on respiratory endurance
  • Continue to develop motor profi ciency through expressive play and creative movements such as gymnastics and rhythmics
  • Glorify God through actions by sharing responsibility, being honest and
    playing fairly
FIFTH GRADE
  • Develop specific sport skills through learning practice drills, and modified
    game play
  • Learn rules for various sports
  • Build health and fitness through a continuation of strength and flexibility
    conditioning with new emphasis on respiratory endurance
