Carol Andrews

Carol Andrews has taught Science to grammar school students at TGS since 2008. For the six years prior, she taught at the Geneva Academy. A Nutrition Science graduate of the University of Georgia, Mrs. Andrews has also homeschooled for four years.

Kelli Brodrecht

Kelli Brodrecht teaches Fourth Grade in the Grammar School. Mrs. Brodrecht earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa and worked in public school systems in Iowa and Massachusetts, later team-teaching in a classical home school group in South Bend, Indiana. In 2006, Mrs. Brodrecht came to Geneva, working in a variety of positions, including serving as director of the Aftercare Program and as a Second Grade aide, before joining the Fourth Grade team in 2009.

Cindy Burrows

Cynthia Burrows teaches Fifth Grade at TGS. Mrs. Burrows earned a B.A. in Mathematics at the University of North Florida. She began teaching in 1999 at Covenant Christian School, Winter Park. She earned her ASCI teaching certification in 2000 after completing educational coursework through Florida Southern College. Mrs. Burrows joined the Geneva faculty in 2008.

Fifth Grade Latin

Nick DeGroot

Nicholas DeGroot teaches Latin in both the upper and lower schools. He earned a B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Milligan College, and an M.A. in Greek & Latin Literature from the Florida State University. Mr. DeGroot taught a few semesters of Classical Mythology and Latin at FSU before coming to TGS in 2008.

Trisha Detrick

Trisha Detrick teaches fourth grade at TGS. She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of West Florida and is certified by the state of Florida to teach grades 1-6.  Miss Detrick has twelve years of experience teaching in classical schools concentrated mostly in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.  Additionally, she has taught at numerous teacher workshops and classical conventions at the state and national levels. Miss Detrick has enjoyed being an active part of the TGS family since 2006.

Erin Dunlap

Erin Dunlap joined the fourth grade team in 2010 after having worked as a substitute teacher and as the fifth grade aide beginning in 2009. Miss Dunlap graduated from Flagler College with a B.S. in Elementary Education along with ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Reading Endorsements.

Katie Faerber

Katie Faerber teaches second grade at TGS. She joined the faculty in 2002 after having taught a first and second grade multi-age class for five years at a public magnet school in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  She has led several seminars at the Florida Council of Independent Schools conference in the past few years. Miss Faerber received her elementary education degree from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and has her Florida Teaching Certification.

Jeremiah Forshey

Jeremiah Forshey joined the TGS faculty in 2010 and teaches Pre-Algebra, English I, and fourth grade Latin. Prior to coming to TGS, for six years he taught literature, logic, and math to dialectic students at Redeemer Classical School in Virginia. He also directed a number of school plays. Mr. Forshey received his undergraduate degree in English literature and computer science from Bridgewater College, and a master’s degree in English language and literature from James Madison University.

Kim Gordiany

Kimberly Gordiany teaches Math and Bible to our 6th grade students. Mrs. Gordiany earned her B.Mus. from Houghton College, her M.M.E. from Holy Names University, and her M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. She has seven years of teaching experience in Christian Schools in New York and California and has homeschooled her own children for 5 years. She joined TGS faculty in 2008.

Amanda Hallock

Amanda Hallock joined the Geneva faculty in 2011 as the writing consultant for seventh and eighth grade.  She is an alumni of The Geneva School’s class of 2007, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her B.A. in English from Rollins College Hamilton Holt School in 2011.

Keturah Kiehl

After earning a B.A. in Classical Studies at Hillsdale College in 2004 and an M.A. in Classical Languages at the University of Missouri–Columbia in 2006, Keturah Keihl attended the summer sessions of the American Academy at Rome and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Ms. Kiehl joined the Geneva faculty in 2011, bringing with her five years of experience teaching Latin at Briarcrest Christian School and Memphis University School, both in Memphis, where she also coached middle school cross country and track and sponsored the Junior Classical League.

Jill Lewis

Jill Lewis teaches First Grade at TGS. She attended Georgia Tech and later earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State where she gained experience teaching Kindergarten and Second Grade. Mrs. Lewis substitute taught in primary grades and special needs classes for a year in the Orange County School System, before she joined the Geneva faculty in 2007 as the Second Grade Aide. In 2008 she joined the First Grade team as an instructor.

Jill McDougall teaches Third Grade. She earned a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Grove City College. Her certifications include Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, and Middle School Mathematics. Miss McDougall joined the Geneva faculty in 2006.

Kathy Muether

Kathy Muether is the Librarian for TGS. Mrs. Muether received her B.A. in Sociology from Gordon College and her M.L.S. from the University of Western Michigan. She has worked in both academic and public libraries and homeschooled her children through high school. She began her tenure at TGS in 1999.

Kandal Natale

Kendal Natale teaches Sixth Grade History and Literature. Mrs. Natale received her B.A. in English from Stetson University. She has taught school for eight years, including four years of homeschooling. She joined the faculty of TGS in 2009.

Susan Pederson

Susan Pederson

Susan Pederson joined the sixth grade faculty as a writing consultant in 2011. Prior to this, she volunteered in this role for two years. Mrs. Pederson graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Azusa Pacific University. She taught and tutored ESL in California and Ohio for several years, schooled her four children at home for ten years before enrolling them in classical schools, and has worked in various leadership and training roles in Christian ministry since 1983.

Betty Ralls

Betty Ralls

Betty Ralls has taught First Grade at TGS since 2003. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education at Tift College, now a part of Mercer University. Miss Ralls began her teaching career in the Seminole County Public School System where she was an instructor for fifteen years, and was certified by the State of Florida. Miss Ralls also taught First Grade at Covenant Christian School for seventeen years, where she received her ACSI certification.

Mary Chris Rowe

Mary Chris Rowe has been teaching Second Grade at TGS since 2004. A graduate of The Florida State University, she has been teaching for twelve years. She has presented workshops for the National Core Knowledge Convention and the Florida Council of Independent Schools. Mrs. Rowe enjoys playing the piano and has taught piano lessons for twenty-one years. She has been a church pianist for ten years and is presently an accompanist at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.

Vanessa Schaefer

Vanessa Schaefer joined the faculty of TGS in 2004, where she teaches Science to Grammar School students. Mrs. Schaefer earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Concordia University and holds a teaching certificate with the state of Florida. Her career has spanned twenty years teaching in elementary classrooms in Miami, Chicago, Oviedo and Casselberry.

Brian Shriner

Brian Shriner

Brian Shriner currently teaches rhetoric students in Western Civilization, Greek, and AP English Literature. In addition, he teaches Greek to our third grade students. Mr. Shriner studied at Florida Southern College, where he earned a B.A. in English, and at Trinity Seminary in Pittsburgh, where he earned an M.Div. He has 14 years of teaching experience in schools and is an ordained priest in the Episcopal/Anglican church with 13 years of experience working with families in the church. He joined the Geneva faculty in 2005.

Leslie Shriner teaches Fifth Grade and has been teaching at TGS since 2004, during which time she has also taught in the First and Second Grades. She has taught kindergarten in a public school for a year and homeschooled for four years. She holds a B.S. in Early Childhood/ Elementary Education from Florida Southern College.

Debbie Smith

Debbie Smith teaches third grade and joined The Geneva School family in 2011.  She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Mrs. Smith has eleven years of teaching experience at Orangewood Christian School in Maitland, Florida, including nine years as a second grade teacher and most recently, 2 1/2 years teaching the enrichment program (a program that she developed for gifted 2nd–6th grade students).  An avid runner, Mrs. Smith coached the Orangewood varsity cross country team for six years.
