During the course of third grade’s historical study of the ancient Roman empire, students see God’s sovereign control over the events of man. They see how God orchestrated the rise of the Roman empire to provide the perfect circumstances for the birth of the Messiah and the spread of the Gospel, and gain an appreciation for how the events of the New Testament were intertwined with the history of the Roman empire.
A variety of activities, demonstrations, and projects are used throughout the year to make learning fun, including on one of the students’ favorite activities—drama. In the spring of 2009, the final dramatic production of the year took the form of a radio theater presentation of Saul’s conversion and Paul’s shipwreck, as told in the book of Acts. After practicing their lines, students enjoyed recording their parts and making sound effects. The recordings were then edited—and more sound effects added—to create the final production available here for your listening enjoyment.
