The Development Office organizes a student fundraising event for both the lower and upper school students annually. This provides our students the opportunity to participate in a philanthropic project in support of their school.
SALT … A GENEVA SERVEATHON
On September 26, 2013, The Geneva School will participate in SALT, our second annual school-wide initiative to provide: necessary funds for The Geneva School, a servant leadership experience for our students, and meaningful service to our local community. SALT is a soulish endeavor trying to capture what Geneva teaches through an experience. SALT is also an opportunity for our students to play an active role in philanthropy—supporting their school that provides a formative education.
Students, faculty, staff, and parents will spend one day serving thirteen local non-profit organizations—that translates to over 700 people donating well over 3,000 hours in one day. For example, some of our students will build and plant community garden boxes for the Arbor Day School; others will package meals for Feeding Children Everywhere; and still others will bring joy to residents living in an assisted living facility by performing a program and leaving a gift.
Students will make personalized asks to family, friends, and neighbors requesting donations to sponsor their efforts. When donors support SALT, they enable The Geneva School to continue providing an education that shapes our students’ thinking, character, and hearts for the glory of God.
All gifts made to The Geneva School are tax-deductible.
Salt represents what we are called to be in the world. Salt preserves. Salt enhances the flavor. Salt—Serving and Learning Together.
WHO BENEFITS FROM SALT?
Win for the school: Raises necessary funds for The Geneva School to continue providing reasonable tuition and scholarship assistance to Central Florida families AND continues to create a culture of giving.
Win for the local community non-profits: Over 700 people performing 3,000 hours of work AND project costs covered by The Geneva School.
Win for the students: Places our students in an environment conducive for the Holy Spirit to work in their lives to develop servant leadership and puts into action what they learn in chapel and the classroom AND educates our students about an area of need in the local community and shows them they can make a difference now and in the future.
