2026 Summer Upper School Athletics

Geneva has many opportunities for upper school students to continue their athletic training over the summer.

All students participating in summer workouts, open gyms, pick-up games, summer leagues, etc. must have an up-to-date Athletic Clearance package with The Geneva School named as a school and the specific sports listed. Coaches will check that the Athletic Clearance is in compliance before an athlete is permitted to participate.

SOCCER SUMMER PICK-UP GAMES

Rising 6th–12th grade students, in addition to TGS alumni and families, are invited to participate in these summer pick-up games. Participants and parents will be added to a group text so cancellations due to weather can be communicated. Coaches Tracy Talesnick and Ferron Brooks will supervise.

The tentative dates are as follows:

• Tuesday and Thursdays (weather permitting), 6:30–8:00 pm on the soccer practice field.
• Beginning June 16 and ending July 30.

SWIMMING AND DIVING SUMMER TRAINING

Here are some recommendations for summer training for athletes who wish to participate with Geneva in the fall. Due to the fact that there is no facility on the TGS campus for our team to practice, all swimmers and divers must practice with a registered local club team.

• Greater Orlando Aquatics Team (GOAT): Swimmers in the summer GOATS program, will be taught the basics of competitive swimming, including stroke mechanics in all four strokes, racing starts, racing turns, and race strategy, in a safe and fun environment. The summer GOATS compete in intrasquad meets and are able to learn from nationally ranked college swimmers via mini clinics. The summer GOATS program is offered to children ages 4–14. All participants should be able to swim 25 yards without touching the bottom. They have in-water coaches providing safety as well as deck coaches. Practices are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6–7 pm at the Lake Howell Aquatics Center (less than 10 minutes from Geneva). Participants are allowed to attend as many days as desired. VOLLEYBALL SUMMER TRAINING

May 6 Evaluations
3:30-4:45pm Rising 7th–11th Grade Evaluations: Open to all athletes. Players will be evaluated on basic volleyball skills allowing the coaches to know how many players will be trying out for each team in the fall. If your daughter is unable to attend, please contact Hollie Benjumea so she can add her to the appropriate age group.

Open Gyms

Lessons/Group Training

You can book 1 hour or 2 hours (once booked your player’s name will appear in the details).
Coach Benjumea will try to book players similar in skill level, it is helpful to sign up as a group and coordinate with others.
All lessons in June are group lessons, 3–6 people, $20–$25/hr.
There will be some private lessons and more group lessons available in July.

Rising 9th–12th graders will be sent a schedule for summer workouts after May 6.

There will be a beach volleyball clinic, June 29–July 2, 8:00–10:00 am for rising 8th–12th grade. Please complete this Beach Volleyball Clinic form.

TENNIS SUMMER TRAINING & CAMPS

CROSS COUNTRY SUMMER RUNS

Cross country summer preseason training is designed to gradually build strength and endurance with small segments of speed worked into the training program. The vision is to train athletes to handle tougher workouts resulting in greater success during the regular season. A strong season depends on preseason training.

The comprehensive summer training schedule for May 4–July 31 can be found HERE. Runs are held at TGS and local area trails. Athletes are encouraged to make as many as the group runs as they can.

Summer Training Camp: Join Geneva crosss country runners at the Brevard Distance Runners Camp, July 19–25. If you are interested in registering for this camp, please reach out to Marty Phillips.
