Merely Players (Drama Troupe)
As a member of the Merely Players, students learn that theatre is so much more than standing in the right place and memorizing lines. During rehearsal, they learn dedication, personal responsibility, and perseverance. In performance they experience the joy that comes from working together to create art for an audience. Rehearsals are typically scheduled from 3:00–5:00 pm, four to five days a week. Because theatre is a communal art, students are expected to attend all rehearsals regardless of the size of the role. Auditions are open to all 7th through 12th grade students. There is one show each semester.
The Unseen Forces
The Unseen Forces is the stage crew for our shows. The crew works to help the actors create a show by doing everything but the acting. The jobs done and hours required depend on the needs of the play. Students in the crew learn personal responsibility, resourcefulness, and the joy that comes from serving others. While they may not be seen by the audience, the Unseen Forces are a vital part of our performances. All 7th through 12th grade students who wish to become a part of this powerful team need to sign up with Mrs. Hines during auditions. Only members of the Unseen Forces are able to earn the coveted glow-in-the-dark t-shirt!
