Non-Geneva Student Athletes
Athletics Programs for 6th–12th Grade Non-Geneva Students
The Geneva School Athletics Department has proudly welcomed non-TGS students to be a part of our middle school, JV, and varsity athletics for many years. The FHSAA now allows students who attend non-FHSAA schools to participate with a private school of their choice. Approximately 30–40 non-TGS students participate across multiple sports teams each year. We believe the key to building and maintaining relationships with our non-TGS student athletes and their families is treating them just like enrolled Geneva students. One team, one family: Geneva Knights!
Requirements to Participate
The Geneva School accepts participation from non-Geneva student athletes under the bylaws of section 9 of the FHSAA handbook. Non-Geneva students in 6th–12th grade may try out for middle school, JV, and varsity teams. All non-Geneva participants must complete the athletic clearance requirements and pay the participation fee to be cleared without limitations. Here is a reference guide to the forms required for non-Geneva students.
Payment for Non-TGS Athletes
Please wait to pay for a season of sports until after tryouts and after teams have been selected.
Athletes may not try out for a team until all the necessary forms have been submitted to the athletic clearance site.
Payment should be made via the Athletic page on the TGS online store.

FHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (EL2) -
The Medical Eligibility Supplemental Form is required when a student must obtain further evaluation by a qualified medical specialist prior to clearance for participation in interscholastic athletics.
This form supplements eligibility documentation for referrals originating from either the EL1 ECG Screening Form or the EL2 Preparticipation Physical Evaluation. This form documents the specialist’s evaluation, recommendations, and clearance status related to the medical concern identified during the initial screening/evaluation.
Completion of all applicable sections by the appropriate specialist is required before athletic clearance may be granted
-
Effective July 1, 2026, all first-time high school participants in FHSAA athletics must have an electrocardiogram (ECG) screening before participation. This applies to students with no cardiac symptoms. Students with cardiac symptoms should consult their healthcare provider. An ECG completed within two (2) years prior to July 1 of the participation year satisfies this requirement. If the ECG requires further evaluation, the student must be cleared by a licensed medical practitioner trained in the diagnosis, evaluation and management of ECGs before participating in FHSAA athletic competition, practice, tryouts, or workouts.
-
This form must be completed once each school year by all homeschoolers wishing to participate on a TGS team and uploaded during completion of the FHSAA Online Athletic Clearance Form. An athlete may not practice prior to final approval from the FHSAA.
