THE GENEVA SCHOOL CODE OF ETHICS

Duty to Report Misconduct

‍To maintain the Christian witness of the school, all members of the board, administration, and faculty (as well as all delegated representatives of the school) must conform to biblical ethical standards at all times. These individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a fair, honest, and professional manner and with the greatest integrity. Such conduct is vital to the success and reputation of the school, and Geneva School tolerates nothing other than the highest standards of ethical and lawful behavior.

‍All instructional personnel, educational support employees, and administrators have an obligation and legal responsibility to report misconduct by school employees that affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student. Examples of misconduct include obscene language, drug and alcohol use, disparaging comments, prejudice or bigotry, sexual innuendo, cheating or testing violations, physical aggression, and accepting or offering favors. When told of misconduct, be a LEADER: Listen, Evaluate, Act immediately, Document, Encourage, and Report.

‍Report misconduct of employees to the head of school, Russ Kapusinski (rekapusinski@genevaschool.org). Report misconduct of administrators to HR Director Dyanne Blakley (dlblakley@genevaschool.org).

‍All instructional personnel, educational support employees, and administrators are required as a condition of employment to complete training on these standards of ethical conduct each school year. Failure to report misconduct may result in penalties up to termination of employment and revocation of an educator’s certification.

‍Any person, official, or institution participating in good faith in any act authorized or required by this chapter, or reporting in good faith any instance of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect to the department or any law enforcement agency, shall be immune from any civil or criminal liability which might otherwise result by reason of such action.
