Gina Rivera Fickett joined Geneva in 2021 as a grammar school drama teacher. Theater has played a significant role in her life from an early age. She received her BFA in Acting from Avila University and also studied Theater and Creative Writing at UCF. Post-graduation, she participated in a nine-month acting/education internship at Orlando Shakes, where she was able to perform, continue her training, and teach children of various ages about acting and Shakespeare. Later, she moved up to NYC to continue pursuing an acting career. She was blessed to be able to perform in a broad range of productions from Shakespeare plays to contemporary comedies to musicals, including an Off-Broadway musical with the Classical Theater of Harlem that won four Audelco Awards, one of which was Best Musical of the Year.
Her favorite role was playing Celia in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Hal (who was producing and acting in the show). Together they attend NewCity Orlando and have two amazing (and very dramatic) children, Elijah and Gabriella.
