SALT Serveathon

The SALT Serveathon is an expression of what we value highly at Geneva: developing Christian character through service and philanthropy. SALT—Serving and Learning Together—provides the opportunity for students to learn about needs in the community and also to be Christ’s hands and feet toward meeting those needs. Each year, the school suspends its normal school day and students serve in the Central Florida community. Geneva’s SALT Serveathon mobilizes students, teachers, and parent volunteers who donate approximately 4,500 service hours to the community at over a dozen nonprofit organizations throughout the area.

During the SALT Serveathon, each grade is assigned its own project for the day where students are able to learn about an area of need in the community and experience how serving others really can make a difference in the world.

Examples of past service opportunities include sorting and stocking shelves at a local food pantry, cleaning up local parks, making seniors smile at a retirement home, packing over 10,000 meals for hungry children, taking adults with special needs on a bowling outing, and making teddy bears for fire fighters to take to children who have been in an accident. It’s a day of hard work and heart change, blessing others, and being blessed.

SALT is also an important philanthropic effort and encourages a culture of giving. Instead of selling wrapping paper or walking a 5K to raise money, we ask students to seek sponsorships for a day of service. Leading up to SALT day, students will reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and other local contacts to ask for pledges for their day of work in the local community. We are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world; SALT allows students to do just that. SALT raised over $425,000 (net) in September 2025.
