School Hours/Schedules

SCHOOL HOURS

• K4: 8:00 am–1:10 pm (8:00 am–12:10 pm the first two weeks of school)

• Kindergarten: 8:00 am–2:10 pm (8:00 am–12:50 pm the first two weeks of school)

• 1st–6th Grade: 8:00 am–2:50 pm

DROP-OFF TIMES

• Drop off between 7:35 and 7:55 am.

• Having your child at school 5 minutes before the scheduled time for class to begin allows students to settle themselves and get ready for class.

• Supervision for students during morning arrival will begin at 7:35 am, so please do not drop off students before this time.

EARLY PICKUP TIMES, AUGUST 11–21 ONLY (K4 & KINDERGARTEN)
K4 & kindergarten students start the year off with a shorter school day. Early pickup times for August 11–21 are given below.

• K4: Pick up between 12:10 and 12:25 pm.

• Kindergarten: Pick up between 12:50 and 1:05 pm.

REGULAR PICKUP TIMES

• K4: Pick up between 1:10 and 1:25 pm.

• Kindergarten: Pick up between 2:10 and 2:25 pm. (Beginning on August 24, kindergarten students with older siblings may go to aftercare at 2:25 pm and will not be charged if picked up along with older siblings by 3:15 pm.)

• 1st–6th Grade: Pick up between 2:50 and 3:15 pm.

• Unless a student is participating in an after-school activity, grammar school students not picked up by 1:25 pm (K4), 2:25 pm (K), or 3:15 pm (1st–6th grade) will be taken to aftercare, and applicable fees charged.

EARLY DISMISSAL TIME
The school day will finish early for lower school students on these days: Sept 17, Dec 17, Dec 18, Jan 28, Mar 12, May 27, May 28. No lunch program and no aftercare is provided on these days.

Lower School Early Dismissal Schedule: 8:00 am–12:00 pm

Please note: Cell phone use by drivers (calling or texting) while operating a vehicle on campus is prohibited.

• 7th–12th Grade: Please drop off/arrive between 7:45 and 8:20 am.

• Having your child at school 5–10 minutes before the scheduled time for class to begin allows students to settle themselves and get ready for class.

• Supervision for students in 7th and 8th grade begins at 8:00 am. If dialectic students are dropped off prior to 8:00 am, they may sit and study in the upper school concessions area, or they may play on the outdoor fields behind Riley Arena. At 8:00 am, dialectic students will be allowed in the upper school building. Neither Ingram or Riley gyms are available for student use prior to school, as our PE faculty are often preparing for classes in those spaces.

PICKUP TIMES

• 7th–12th Grade: Pick up between 3:15 and 3:40 pm.

• The Geneva School does not have oversight of dialectic and rhetoric students once they are dismissed from the last period of the day.

EARLY DISMISSAL TIME
The school day will finish early for upper school students on these days: Sept 17, Dec 17 & 18, Jan 28, Mar 12, May 27 & 28. No lunch program is provided on these days.

• Dialectic Regular Early Dismissal Days (Sept 17, Dec 17, Jan 28, Mar 12, May 27): 8:25 am–12:30 pm

• Dialectic Exam Early Dismissal Days (Dec 18, May 28): 9:00 am–12:30 pm

• Rhetoric Regular Early Dismissal Days (Sept 17, Jan 28, Mar 12): 8:25 am–12:30 pm

• Rhetoric Exam Early Dismissal Days (Dec 17 & 18, May 27 & 28): 9:00 am–12:30 pm

Exam Schedule: All dialectic and rhetoric school students taking exams (except those requiring extra time) report to school at 9:00 am. The first exam takes place from 9:15–10:45 am and the second exam from 11:00 am–12:30 pm. Students who are granted extra time through an ISP report at 8:00 am on exam days. Semester exams are not administered early. If students miss exams on the scheduled days in December, the makeup day will be the teacher work day at the end of Christmas Break in January. If students miss exams on the scheduled days in May, the makeup exam day will be the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
