Fifth Grade Teacher
Joanna Hornbeck joined Geneva’s fifth grade teaching team in 2025. She brings with her twenty years of teaching experience in public and private education along with five years at an international school in the Dominican Republic. She earned a BS in elementary education from Taylor University and is certified in K–6 education as well as ESOL (K–12) and ESE (K–12). While much of her early teaching career was spent in third grade, she delights in being able to guide older grammar school students as they mature in their faith, learn how to be loving friends to their classmates, and grow in their executive functioning skills.
Throughout her teaching career, God has honed and shaped Joanna’s teaching, and she loves being able to help young people know God deeply and to enjoy learning. On the weekends, you can find her exploring a new coffee shop, paddleboarding with dolphins and manatees, or learning a new song in ASL. She has been an active member at Orlando Grace Church since 2021.
