Kacie Melvin joined the TGS music faculty in April 2023 and currently teaches music in the lower school. In addition to teaching at Geneva, Kacie also currently serves at First Baptist Orlando as the choir director and worship leader for the traditional service.

Kacie studied at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL, where she received her BM in Education in December of 2004. She studied voice with Grammy Award–winning mezzo-soprano, Marilyn Mims. She completed her student teacher internship at the prestigious Bak Middle School of the Arts serving under the direction of Connie Drosakis. Kacie graduated summa cum laude and was recognized as the Outstanding Graduate for the School of Music and Fine Arts as well as a Woman of Distinction scholar.

Kacie’s music experience ranges from singing in church choirs, school choirs, and show choirs in high school and college, playing French horn for twelve years, serving as drum major in high school for two years, and playing in the pep band in college. Kacie also served as an interim church choir director at the age of seventeen.

From 2005–2015, Kacie taught music at Choices in Learning Elementary Charter School in Winter Springs. This included leading the 3rd grade choir, 4th/5th grade choir, ukulele club, and recorder club. She had the privilege of taking students to the Florida Music Educators Association annual conference for Elementary All-State Choir from 2007–2015. Kacie was given the honor of Teacher of the Year in 2013. She also received her Orff Level I certification in 2014.

Kacie resides in Winter Springs with her husband, Bret, and their two children, Harmony (TGS Class of ’34) and Shepherd (TGS Class of ’36). Kacie is a Florida native and pastor’s kid who enjoys Sudoku puzzles, acquiring unicorns, deal finding, Amazon product-testing, concert going, exercising, and baking.
