Dean of Grammar School Curriculum

BS, Grove City College

My formation as a Christian and as a teacher began in childhood with parents, teachers, and other adults who shaped my life. During my time at Grove City College, I was captivated by a philosophy of education that seeks to develop lifelong learners. After growing in my faith as a child and a young adult, my eyes were further opened to the fullness of God’s story in Scripture during my time as a teacher at The Geneva School.

It is said that the best way to really know something is to teach it.  The Geneva School seeks to inspire students to love beauty, think deeply, and pursue Christ’s calling.  I, too, have been inspired in these ways by a Geneva education of my own.  As a teacher, and now in my current position, I have marveled at the history of ancient civilizations, the intricacies of language, and the beauty of sacred music sung well.  I think deeply about optimized class schedules, curriculum implementation, educational philosophy, and classical pedagogy.  In the classroom and in teacher development sessions, we study the well-known Bible stories, but also the less familiar ones. We learn together and seek to intentionally function as a healthy community of believers pursuing Christ. Each of my teaching and studying experiences has enriched my learning, enriched my teaching, and ultimately enriched the learning of our students. Geneva inspires me to inspire students, and the cycle repeats.
