Brittany joined The Geneva School community in 2024 as the grammar school learning specialist. Prior to her time at TGS, she taught in both Orange County and Seminole County Public Schools. She began her teaching career after graduating from the University of Central Florida with a BS in elementary education. She holds certifications in elementary education (K–6) and exceptional student education (K–12), along with reading and ESOL endorsements.
Brittany spent several years early in her career teaching in a general education classroom before transitioning into a role as an exceptional student education (ESE) support facilitator. During that time, she also contributed to district-level curriculum development for students with learning differences in grades K–12. She later served in a leadership position as an instructional coach for five years, supporting teachers and school-wide instructional initiatives.
From 2020 to 2023, Brittany served on a collaborative academic team with Stetson University, focusing on trauma and resilience. This work culminated in the writing of a college-level syllabus aimed at equipping future educators with tools and strategies for trauma-informed teaching.
A passionate and dedicated educator, Brittany is deeply committed to supporting students with learning differences. Her approach is rooted in relationship-centered teaching, emphasizing the importance of meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues. Her work is inspired by her love for God and her desire to foster a thriving, grace-filled community where every student is supported and valued.
Brittany and her husband, Santiago, have been together since 2007 and married since 2016. Both are Florida natives, and they chose to settle in Winter Springs after Santiago completed his service in the United States Marine Corps. They are the proud parents of two boys—Elijah (class of ’36) and Elliott (class of ’41). The Barragans are active members of Action Church in Winter Park.
In her spare time, Brittany enjoys swimming, tending to her garden and succulents, paddleboarding, kayaking, and spending time at the beach with her family.
