Lou Jones

School Nurse

Lou Jones is a registered nurse and has been a school nurse at The Geneva School since 2005. In 2019, she moved to the new upper school campus to focus her care on our 7th–12th grade students, then in 2023 moved to working part-time as needed in both the upper and grammar school clinics. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a BSN in 1983. Married to a now-retired army officer, her family moved around the world with the military for twenty-one years. For fourteen of those years, she worked as a nurse in various hospital settings, including general surgical post-op care, two burn units, surgical intensive care, and cardiovascular intensive care.

Besides caring for the injuries and illness that happen during the school day at Geneva, Lou has a passion for promoting wellness for life. She enjoys helping our school community understand the connection between wholesome eating and regular exercise with a healthy mind and body. In order to promote health both for today and into the future, Lou has initiated and coordinated several programs at TGS—Fresh Ideas, Tasty Fridays, Fresh Finals, F3 summer camp, employee wellness challenges, and the FUN with FOOD afterschool program in the lower school. She received the TGS Bravo Award in 2012 in honor of her work to build a culture of wellness in our school community. She completed a health coaching certification in 2019.

Lou is married to David, and they have two daughters, Kara and Mollie, who graduated from The Geneva School in 2008 and 2011. She loves to exercise, garden, paddleboard, travel, and read.
