Lisel Allbee

Economics Teacher

Lisel joined the rhetoric school faculty in 2024 and teaches twelfth grade economics. She is passionate about fostering an understanding of economics that applies gospel truth and equips the students well as they pursue God’s calling for their lives beyond the Geneva classroom.

Lisel graduated from the University of Miami (Go ‘Canes!) with bachelor’s degrees in economics and journalism and minors in business administration and art. Following graduation, she worked as a project cost control analyst for Northrop Grumman. Though Lisel enjoys financial analysis and spreadsheets, she feels most called to discipleship. Lisel and her husband, Josh, served as youth leaders and community group leaders in their church family for many years. Lisel eventually left the defense industry for full-time ministry in 2015, first working as a donor relations manager for a local ministry, then serving her growing family and community at home for seven years.

Lisel met Josh while playing recreational sports at the University of Miami. They married in 2011 and added Isla (class of ‘35), Jack (class of ‘37), and Noah (class of ‘39) to their team. In her spare time, Lisel enjoys spending time with her family and community, discipling teenagers, painting, and playing sand volleyball.

Emily Allen

Sixth Grade Teacher

Emily Allen joined the sixth grade team in 2018. She served as the aide for four years before transitioning in 2022 to sixth grade teacher. She graduated from Wheaton College with both her BA and MA in Christian Education. Emily focused her studies on adolescence and how to help young people grow to be whole and effective Christians. After graduating, Emily worked at a crisis pregnancy center for five years where she was the director of abstinence education. She oversaw a team that taught the message of abstinence to school classes and youth groups all over the Chicago suburbs. She also spent her time at the crisis pregnancy center, counseling young women and their families through their time of crisis.

Emily and her husband Michael have two boys at Geneva: Jackson ’28 and Will ’32. Their family enjoys playing and listening to music, as well as playing and watching sports in their free time. They attend NewCity Orlando, where Emily is involved in the children’s ministry.

Darren Allgaier

Lower School Facilities Manager

Darren joined the Geneva team in the summer of 2020 as the facilities manager at the lower school. Prior to coming to Geneva, he worked for twenty-one years at Continental National America, managing their facilities for 1000+ employees for eighteen of those years. His forte is customer service and he has extensive construction and handyman experience.

Darren was born in Florida but grew up in Colorado. He returned to Florida after he graduated high school and has planted his roots in Orlando. He supports anything to do with the American Breast Cancer Society in honor of his mother who passed away at the age of forty from breast cancer. He is a country boy at heart and enjoys fishing, sports, and writing poetry. Darren is a member at Willow Creek Church and enjoys participating in the mens ministry activities.

Aly Alwinson

Aly Alwinson graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2007 with a BS in Nursing. She worked in the medical, surgical, and neuro ICU at Orlando Regional Medical Center for over five years. Feeling a call to educate and care for patients in primary and preventive medicine, Aly went back to UCF for her master’s degree in nursing. She then worked as a nurse practitioner for almost three years at a family practice office in the Orlando area. In 2019, continuing her call to care for and educate others on health and wellness, she joined the Geneva team as grammar school nurse.

Aly is married to her husband Joel and is the proud mother of three: Maggie (class of ’32), Molly (class of ’33), and Wyatt (class of ’34). She enjoys all things outdoors. Although raising three young children keeps her very busy, she likes to exercise, bike, and cook. She is always up for fun and adventure to stay active and healthy, and, of course, tire out her children.

Alexandra Anderson

Third Grade Aide

Alexandra joined the third grade team as a teachers aide in 2024. She grew up in the Central Florida area and studied elementary education at UCF. She is forever cheering on the Knights! She has always worked with students, either in the classroom or in student ministries at her church. She has a heart for children and loves to see them thrive.

Alex and her husband, Christopher, have four children at Geneva—Jackson (‘28), Finn (‘30), Olive (’31), and Theodore (’36). If they aren’t transporting children to sports and activities, they love to travel, eat good food, and spend time doing outdoor activities. The Anderson family attend Orlando Grace Church in Maitland.

Ruthie Andreacchi

Fourth Grade Teacher

Ruthie Andreacchi joined the TGS faculty in 2020 and, after teaching first grade for one year, is currently a part of the fourth grade team. This fall, she will begin her fifth year in fourth grade, taking on the role of team leader. Ruthie was born in New York and moved to Florida during high school, attending Altamonte Christian School. She earned a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2008 and is state certified. Additionally, Ruthie is endorsed in both English for Speakers of Other Languages and Reading K–12, and holds a certificate in supervising student teachers. The 2025–2026 school year is her thirteenth year of teaching.

Prior to Geneva, Ruthie taught kindergarten, second-grade, and third-grade remedial reading at Choices in Learning Elementary Charter School. During her time teaching kindergarten, Ruthie was able to incite a love for learning in her young students and support them as they transitioned into their first experience of school. From there, Ruthie made the jump to teaching second grade and was given the position of team leader. While leading her team and mentoring first-year teachers, Ruthie was also involved in the teacher mentorship program at UCF. Each semester, she welcomed interns into her classroom and found a passion for helping new teachers grow and thrive. While teaching and bringing out the best in students is always Ruthie’s top priority, mentoring others to be the best teachers they can be has become a close second. Since being at Geneva, Ruthie has not lost this love and continues to help support teachers in the Geneva lower school community. Ruthie is dedicated to being a lifelong learner, just as she inspires her students to be.

Ruthie and her husband, Doug, live in Oviedo with their two beautiful children, Anthony (TGS Class of ’29) and Giuliana (TGS Class of ’31). Together, their family attends Oviedo City Church. Ruthie enjoys relaxing by the pool, crafting, reading, and painting in her spare time.

Janet Andreasen

Math Teacher

Janet Andreasen, PhD is a mathematics specialist at Geneva. She teaches AP Calculus and pre-Calculus and provides mathematics coaching for lower and upper school teachers and students. Prior to coming to Geneva, she was a senior lecturer of mathematics education at the University of Central Florida (UCF) where she worked with prospective and practicing mathematics teachers at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She has a passion for helping students and teachers to understand mathematics deeply.

Dr. Andreasen received a BS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami and an MAT and PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida. She has published books, book chapters, and articles in state and national publications as well as conducted professional presentations throughout the United States. She and her husband, Robbie (TGS science teacher), have two children: Zachary (class of 2021) and Sarah (class of 2023). In her spare time, she enjoys puzzles and games, reading, knitting, and spending time with family.

Robbie Andreasen

Science Teacher

Robbie Andreasen joined the Geneva faculty in 2007 and teaches Biology (ninth grade) and Anatomy & Physiology (twelfth grade). Robbie has a contagious passion to study the intersection of faith and science, and his students have come to expect a challenging, active classroom characterized by their teacher’s love and enthusiasm for learning. This is also true when he teaches Sunday School.

Robbie received a BS in Marine Science and Biology from the University of Miami and an MA in Bioethics from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was the upper school recipient of the 2013 and 2022 Paideia Award for Teaching, an award that recognizes excellence in teaching.

Robbie and his wife Janet (math teacher at Geneva) have two children—Zachary (TGS Class of 2021) and Sarah (TGS Class of 2023). In his spare time, he enjoys challenging himself through activities such as Spartan races.

Rachel Angelakos

First Grade Teacher

Rachel Angelakos joined The Geneva School first grade team in 2023, having previously taught second and third grade in Lake Nona for nearly eight years. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BS in Elementary Education and an endorsement in reading and ESOL.

Rachel firmly believes that teaching is not just her vocation but her God-given calling. Her passion lies in building relationships with her students and creating a classroom environment where students feel a sense of love, safety, and belonging. Rachel considers it a privilege to work alongside Geneva families guiding her students, helping them learn, nurturing their faith in Christ, and instilling in them the desire to become lifelong learners. Her greatest joys are seeing her students succeed and witnessing their personal and spiritual growth.

Rachel spends her time outside of the classroom with her husband, Nick, and their three young children, Giuliana (TGS class of ’38), Noah, and Luke. Their family enjoys spending time out in nature, exploring Orlando, and serving and worshiping together at their church.

Mary Aycrigg

Fifth Grade Teacher

Mary Aycrigg joined the fifth-grade teaching team in 2023. She was born and raised in Miami and enjoys being known as a native Floridian. Mary attended the University of South Florida in Tampa and earned a degree in health and science education. While at USF, Mary committed her life to Christ through a campus ministry called The Navigators, and there she met her future husband, Jon. After settling in Brandon, Florida, Mary began teaching earth science in the public school system, had two children, and helped plant Bay Life Church. God opened the door for her to become the children’s director of Bay Life Kids, a ministry that welcomed over four hundred children every Sunday. As the children’s director, Mary wrote curriculum, taught both large and small groups, and developed volunteers. She served in this capacity for seventeen years until 2010 when God called her and Jon to Maitland to care for their aging parents. Mary accepted a job teaching science at Milwee Middle School in Longwood and, for the next thirteen years, enjoyed the opportunity to work with all kinds of students through ESOL, ESE, reading, and gifted endorsements. She truly loved her time there.

Mary became interested in the Christian classical model of education and began to pray that an opportunity would arise. Mary is thrilled to be a part of The Geneva School and its rich tradition of Christian classical education.

Mary and her husband attend Orlando Grace church. She is an avid runner, having completed nine marathons, and is passionate about her grandchildren, Brooke, Luke and Henry.

Jenna Bagnoli

Director of Lower School K4–2nd Grade

Jenna Bagnoli returned to The Geneva School in 2022 after a hiatus of five years. On her return to the sunshine state, Jenna taught second grade for two years before assuming the role as director of the lower school (K4–2nd grade). Born and raised in New Jersey, Jenna moved to California to attend the University of Southern California where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and global communications. After graduating, she moved to Florida to be near extended family and was introduced to The Geneva School. She spent eight wonderful years at TGS, first as a K4 aide and then, after completing her master’s degree in early childhood education and development at UCF, as a kindergarten teacher. In 2017, she moved to Greenville, SC, and worked for five years at First Presbyterian Academy.

Jenna is thrilled to be back in the Orlando area and the Geneva community. In her spare time, she loves to go on hikes or walks with her dog, Weasley, read, watch movies, and spend time with family. You can also catch her, more often than not, watching some kind of sport, especially football and soccer.

Brittany Barragan

Lower School Learning Specialist

Brittany excitedly joined The Geneva School family in 2024 as the lower school learning specialist. Prior to joining TGS, she taught in Orange County and Seminole County public schools. She began her career in January of 2012 after graduating from University of Central Florida with a BS in elementary education. She is currently certified in both elementary education K–6 and exceptional education K–12, as well as holding Reading and ESOL Endorsements.

She spent the first four years of her career teaching in the general education setting, then spent the next three years as an exceptional student education (ESE) support facilitator while also writing curriculum for the district. Prior to teaching at Geneva, she served in a leadership role as an instructional coach for five years.

Brittany is a dedicated educator with a profound passion for supporting students with learning differences. Her devotion to education is rooted in her commitment to relationship-centered teaching and the importance of building strong, supportive connections with students, families, and colleagues. Brittany’s approach is guided by her deep love for God and her desire to foster a thriving community that integrates all areas of life. Through her work, Brittany seeks to create an environment where every student can succeed, every family feels valued, and every relationship is nurtured.

Brittany and her husband, Santiago, have been together since 2007 and married since 2016. Both Florida natives, they decided to settle in Winter Springs after Santiago completed his service with the United States Marine Corps. They are the proud parents of two young boys, Elijah (class of ’36) and future Knight, Elliott; the family also has two beautiful sister puppies. The Barragans attend Action Church in Winter Park.

In her free time, Brittany enjoys swimming, caring for her succulents, going to the beach with her family, and indulging in paddleboarding and kayaking.

Mike Beates

Chaplain / Bible Teacher

Dr. Mike Beates joined the Geneva faculty in January 2008 and served as dean of students from 2011–2020. In 2020, he transitioned to “chaplain” and focuses on teaching and the spiritual elements at Geneva’s upper school. Having taught in the areas of ancient history and Bible, he currently teaches New Testament Survey to eighth graders and Biblical Ethics to tenth graders. Mike has degrees from Clemson University (BA), Biblical Theological Seminary (MDiv and STM), and Reformed Theological Seminary (DMin). He taught at the college and graduate levels for many years at RTS Orlando, Belhaven University (Orlando campus), Florida Southern College (Orlando campus), and Reformation Bible College in Sanford.

Mike served on the international board of directors for Joni and Friends—the disability outreach ministry of Joni Eareckson Tada—from 2000–2024 and has authored a book entitled Disability and the Gospel: How God Uses Our Brokenness to Display His Grace (Crossway, 2012). In his spare time, he enjoys reading Tolkien, Lewis, and old classic novels, as well as a dabbling interest in numismatics, particularly American nickels, half dollars, Morgan silver dollars, and British thruppenny bits (threepence coins). He and his wife Mary have eight children in their 20s and 30s, three grandchildren, one dog, and several grand-dogs.

Hollie Benjumea

Assistant Athletic Director / Youth Sports Director / PE Teacher / Director of Volleyball

Hollie Benjumea graduated summa cum laude from Charleston Southern University with a BS in history and education and a minor in French. She has served as head volleyball coach and grammar school PE teacher since 2006 and youth sports coordinator since 2012. Hollie played four years of Division I volleyball and was ranked as a leading middle blocker in the Big South Conference. She was named conference player of the week in 2002 and to the Big South All-Academic Team in 2001 and 2002. She also received several accolades from Charleston Southern including Volleyball Student Athlete of the Year 2001, History Student of the Year 2003, and French Student of the Year in 2002. In 2017 Hollie completed her health coaching certification through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute and is certified to work with families and expecting mothers.

The volleyball program at TGS has earned eleven district championships under Hollie’s leadership and finished as regional runner-up in 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2015. The team was regional champions in 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. In 2013 it finished in the final four of the FHSAA state tournament and in 2016 and 2017 was state runner-up. The program clenched the state title in 2018 making it the first in school history to earn a state title. Hollie started the Geneva sand volleyball program in 2017. Under the leadership of her husband Jackson Benjumea, the beach volleyball team finished fifth in the state in the Sunshine State Athletic Conference in 2019 and won the SSAA State Championship in 2024.

Hollie is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and started playing amateur/professional beach volleyball in 2008. She is also a member of Florida Athletic Coaches Association, is certified in K–12 Physical Education, and a member of America Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. In 2013, Hollie was the grammar school recipient of the Paideia Award for Teaching, an award that recognizes excellence in teaching, and in the 2023 she was honored with the Bravo Award. She is passionate about health and fitness and helping others live a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys participating in a variety of sports and activities. She is married to Jackson Benjumea and they have a daughter Cassia ’34 and a son Caden ’37.

Jackson Benjumea

Head Beach Volleyball Coach

Jackson Benjumea has served as the head beach volleyball coach at Geneva since the inception of the program in 2017. He began his beach career in Miami where he trained with Gaston Macau. Jackson played in several AVP qualifiers and has played in the professional east coast circuit since 2000. Jackson played with and against several professional beach players such as Phil Dalhauser, Nick Lucena, Steve Grotowski, and Hudson Bates. He has a passion for teaching the sport and volunteered as the UCF men’s club coach in 2015. He has worked with people of all ages and backgrounds to help them grow in the fundamentals and knowledge of the game.

Coach Benjumea continues to play locally and is excited about growing the game at the high school level. The team finished as regional champs in the SSAA in 2019 and were crowned SSAA State champions in 2024 and runners up in 2025. The beach program competes in both the FHSAA and the SSAA. Jackson is a physical therapy assistant at Advent Health and brings a wealth of functional training and rehabilitation exercises to the athletes he works with.

Sammy Bey-Montes

Facilities Utility Tech

Sammy Bey-Montes joined the Geneva facilities team in 2023. He has over two decades of experience in housekeeping, property maintenance, floor cleaning, carpentry, basic plumbing, roofing, and pavement repair. Prior to Geneva, he served as a supervisor for the housekeeping team at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.

Sammy was born in Ponce, on Puerto Rico’s southern coast, but he was raised in Brooklyn, New York, by a single mother who taught him that God is sovereign and a faithful father. Sammy and his wife moved to Florida six years ago and are active members at El Shaddai Christian Church, where Sammy serves as a chaplain and a leader in the men’s ministry. They have four beautiful daughters, three grandsons, and a granddaughter on the way.

During his free time, Sammy loves to spend time fishing, swimming, having cookouts, and playing dominoes with friends and family.

Spyros Bileros

Logic Teacher

Spyros joined the upper school faculty at The Geneva School in 2024 and currently teaches logic to seventh and eighth grade students. He is originally from Athens, Greece, and holds a BA in theology from Greek Bible College and an MDiv from Reformed Theological Seminary. Spyros has a diverse professional background, having worked as a software developer, in church planting ministry, and with middle school students in summer camps and conferences, where he designed and taught Bible lessons.

Spyros has a deep knowledge of and love for classical Greek language, philosophy, mythology, and culture. His Greek cultural upbringing inspires his passion for teaching logic to students.

Spyros and his wife, Jennifer, worked together in ministry in Athens, Greece, and got married in 2020. In 2021, they moved to Orlando for their graduate studies. Spyros serves as a pastoral intern at Christ United Fellowship, often leading prayers during Sunday worship services, and Jennifer works as a mental health counselor.

Outside of his professional and ministry commitments, Spyros enjoys cooking for friends and family, collecting vinyl records, playing tennis, and having deep discussions about brewing coffee.

Sarah Birx

School Nurse

Sarah has always enjoyed working with children, and this has been reflected throughout her nursing career. After graduating from Pensacola Christian College in 2003 with her BSN, she began her nursing journey in the pediatric intensive care unit and the pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit as both a staff nurse and a travel nurse. When she and her family moved to rural Virginia where there was no near-by children’s hospital, Sarah transitioned to the emergency department in 2010, where she helped develop a small pediatric pod to care for children in the ED and promoted and directed pediatric specific emergency education for the medical and nursing staff.

On moving to Florida in 2019, Sarah and her husband, Enoch, enrolled their children in The Geneva School, and Sarah took a short break from nursing to settle her family in a new state. Wanting to stay better connected to The Geneva School community and to continue her nursing path in caring for children, Sarah became a substitute nurse for both the upper and lower school campuses in 2022 and then transitioned to a part-time position as an upper school nurse in 2023.

Sarah and Enoch are foster/adoptive parents, have five children, and are actively involved in their church. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys cooking, playing the piano, and attempting to keep up with reading what her children are reading.

Dyanne Blakley

HR Manager

Dyanne came to The Geneva School in 2010. After working in the aftercare program for ten years, she joined the business office in 2020 and currently serves as the director of human resources. Dyanne has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida, and received her SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional) certification in 2022.

Dyanne and her husband, Bryan, have three grown children, two wonderful sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. They are members of Crosslife Church in Oviedo where Bryan is a deacon and they serve in the preschool ministry teaching four year olds. They love their Orlando sports teams (Orlando Magic and UCF Knights), their dog Layla, and especially being Mimi and Grampa to their grandchildren.

Melissa Blyth

Music Teacher (K4) / Receptionist / Administrative Aide

Melissa Blyth joined the staff of The Geneva School in the fall of 2013. After serving for many years as a teachers aide in the lower school, she transitioned in 2023 to take on the role of receptionist and administrative assistant in the advancement office. Melissa very much enjoys interacting with students and their families. She has not moved completely away from the classroom—the highlight of her week is teaching music and movement to K4 students and leading music in lower school chapel.

Melissa earned an AA in Religion and Sociology from North American Baptist College in Edmonton, Canada. Born and raised in Canada, Melissa and her family moved to the Orlando area in 2011 and are still enjoying all the unexpected surprises of Florida (like black bears in their backyard).

She is so thankful for Geneva and the experience that the school gave her son Jack (class of 2018) and daughter Natalie (class of 2020). You might find Mrs. Blyth teaching private music lessons, running, taking pictures, and spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Elizabeth Bond

K4 Aide

Elizabeth was raised in Texas in a Christian household. Her father is an Orthodox Presbyterian Church pastor and has served one congregation for over twenty years. She moved to Casselberry in June of 2023 and has fallen in love with sunny Florida. She joined the Geneva team in January 2024 as a library aide and the first and second grade art teacher. In the fall of 2024, Elizabeth transferred to the K4 team and now serves as an aide, assisting the teachers as they teach and nurture the youngest of Geneva’s students.

After graduating from a Christian classical school, she attended Collin College, where she completed a certificate in interior design. Her various vocations while attaining college all included working with children and she has found that this is her passion.

In Elizabeth’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family—including her three dogs. She also enjoys listening to music, being outside, and gardening. Elizabeth is an active member of Reformation OPC in Oviedo and helps with the youth group. She is excited to have the opportunity to inspire young hearts in a Christian environment as a K4 aide.

Ileaness Bonilla

Accounting Specialist

Ileaness Bonilla joined The Geneva School’s accounting team in April 2023 as an accounting specialist. Prior to Geneva, Ileaness worked at CRU, Faith Christian Academy, and in the family CPA accounting firm with her husband. Ileaness has a master’s degree in accounting from University of Central Florida, and she has been a CPA for over fourteen years.

Ileaness and her husband, Neftali, have two children, Andrea (class of ’29) and Daniel (class of ’31). The Bonilla family enjoys vacationing to the national parks and spending time together during the weekends. They worship at Faith Assembly.

Shelly Bradon

Art Teacher

Shelly Bradon teaches Art II through AP Art as well as art to dialectic students. She earned a BFA from the Mississippi University for Women and an MFA from UCF, which has led to her work being exhibited in shows around the southeastern United States, as well as Munich, Germany. Before joining the faculty of Geneva, Shelly worked in the public sector as a graphic designer and was an adjunct professor in the computer graphics department at Valencia Community College. She is actively involved in sidewalk chalkart festivals and has taught at TGS in either a part-time or full-time capacity since 2003.

Julie Brielmaier

Art Teacher

Julie Brielmaier says that working with young children keeps her young at heart. She has desired to be a teacher since she was nine years old and was inspired by her fourth grade teacher to find the joy and wonder in learning. Many years later, Julie still loves to learn and enjoys the opportunity to help her students become lifelong learners. She is passionate about making beautiful messes with her students while inspiring and encouraging their creativity.

Julie graduated from Florida State University with a degree in early childhood education. Upon graduating, she and her husband, Joel, moved to Winter Park to begin their public-school teaching careers. Julie taught first grade and kindergarten prior to starting a family and staying home with her two children. When she returned to the classroom, Julie spent four years teaching preschool and joined The Geneva School faculty in 2011. During her years at TGS, Julie has enjoyed the opportunity of teaching multiple grades, including K4, kindergarten, first grade, and lower grammar school art.

Julie and her husband, Joel, have been married since 1999 and have two children. Their daughter, Jordan, is pursuing her doctorate degree in physical therapy at Washington University. Their son, Jake, attends the University of North Florida. Julie and her family love animals and giving needy pets a loving home.

Grant Brodrecht

History Teacher

Grant Brodrecht has been teaching at Geneva since 2006. He currently teaches US History and American Government, having previously taught American Social Thought and Experience: Government and Economics and Western Civilization II and developed and directed the Geneva Capstone Senior Thesis program. While at Geneva, he has received the Headmaster’s Award and the Paideia Award for Teaching Excellence.

Grant’s areas of interest are in political, intellectual, and religious history, which are reflected in his education and experience. He holds MA and PhD degrees in American History from the University of Notre Dame, where he studied under George Marsden and was a Pew Younger Scholar; while there, he also served as assistant to the director of graduate studies in the history department. In addition, Grant earned an MA in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where he was a President’s Scholar. Prior to that he earned a BA from the University of Northern Iowa, double majoring in history and philosophy. In addition to teaching at Geneva, he has taught courses at the University of Notre Dame, Reformed Theological Seminary, and Belhaven University. He is the author of Our Country: Northern Evangelicals and the Union During the Civil War Era, which was published as part of Fordham University Press’ series “The North’s Civil War,” and he has written book reviews for the Florida Historical Quarterly, The History Teacher, The Journal of Southern History, and Civil War History. Furthermore, he has spoken at the Organization of American Historians’ annual meeting and at the Conference on Faith and History.

Grant also possesses a diverse non-academic background. He served twenty years as an electronics technician in the US Navy and Navy Reserve, during which time he was named Sailor of the Year once and Sailor of the Quarter on two occasions. He has held numerous odd jobs over the years, which include working as a convenience store clerk, sorting letters for the US Post Office, assembling and repairing electronics equipment, filling department store catalog orders, and sorting packages and working in management for United Parcel Service.

The husband of Kelli, the father of five—all of whom graduated from The Geneva School—and the grandfather of five, Grant loves Florida summers, enjoys an occasional India Pale Ale, has been a passionate fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bears since the early 1970s, and still loves to play hockey in his spare time.

Grant also has taken Holy Orders, as an ordained deacon in the Anglican Province of America. He worships and serves at St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral in Oviedo.

Kelli Brodrecht

History Teacher

Kelli Brodrecht teaches Western Civilization I (9th grade). She came to Geneva in 2006 and worked in a variety of positions before taking a classroom teaching role in 2009. She has taught in the grammar school, dialectic history, and moved to the rhetoric school in 2023. Kelli earned a bachelor’s in elementary education with a minor in history from the University of Northern Iowa and taught in Iowa and Massachusetts before team-teaching in a classical homeschool group in South Bend, Indiana. Kelli was the grammar school recipient of The Geneva School 2014 Paideia Award, an award that recognizes excellence in teaching.

Kelli and her husband Grant (who teaches history and government to TGS rhetoric students) have five children: Sarah ’13, Eli ’14, Ethan ’16, Thomas ’18, and Jarrett ’21. The family is actively involved in their church (St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral). In the summer, Kelli enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and the chance to read a good book or two.

Ferron Brooks

Middle School Coed and Varsity Boys Soccer Coach

Ferron Brooks joined the TGS coaching staff the fall of 2020. He currently coaches the coed middle school team in the fall season and the boys varsity team in the winter season. Ferron has been a coaching mainstay in the central Florida area—he is well-loved and respected by many players and their families. Ferron has his national coaching license and youth coaching certifications and he has coached both youth and high school teams over the years. He has helped start new programs and loves to assist college-bound athletes with their soccer dreams.

Ferron hails from Jamaica, where he played high school soccer before migrating to the US where he played college soccer in Newark, NJ. After moving to Florida, he began coaching at Maitland Soccer Club where he was vice president and a director before moving to Global Premier Soccer.

Coaching has taught Ferron many things, but most importantly he has learned that he might be the only positive voice an athlete might be hearing. Therefore his prayer has always been for God to empower him with wisdom as he leads the players placed within the sound of his voice.

Heidi Bruno

Heidi Bruno joined The Geneva School’s administration team in May 2019 as its chief business officer. Prior to joining Geneva, Heidi worked in the financial industry where she provided lending and investment solutions to companies and individuals. Most recently she was the controller for a not-for-profit church development fund.

Heidi graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a double major in finance and management. She later pursued a master’s in accounting from Florida Atlantic University. Heidi is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and the American Accounting Association.

The Bruno family enjoys bringing books to life by traveling to destinations learned about during the school year.

Bill Cashman

Head Track & Field Coach

Coach Cash, as a lot of kids call him, joined Geneva’s coaching staff as the varsity track and field coach in 2020–2021. He started his career in coaching while still in high school, coaching baseball and football, and adopted the role of pole vault coach for his track team when they didn’t have a coach. His mentor and coach, Ron Evans, recruited him to coach a few years later, and together they won ten state championships. Since that time, Coach Cashman has coached over 70 state champions, 11 state record holders, 7 national champions, and well over 100 All American athletes. Prior to coming to TGS, he spent five years at Lake Mary High School where his Rams set 30 school records, won 3 straight conference and district titles, and were runners up twice at regionals.

Coach Cashman is a Level I and II certified coach through USA Track and Field. He also went back to school, earning a BS in Exercise Physiology and Sport Science at UCF. He studied strength and conditioning under Frank Costello while coaching at the University of Maryland, as well as biomechanics under Roger Eckard, formerly of Arkansas State University.

Amy Cassedy

Second Grade Aide

In 2016, Amy Cassedy became a part of the Geneva community as a parent. In 2022, she joined the second-grade team and currently works as a teachers aide. Amy and her husband, Sean, have four children: Liam (TGS Class of ’23), Ryan, Peter, and Polly (TGS Class of ’28).

Amy was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She pursued her education at Virginia Tech, where she earned a BSc in Family and Consumer Sciences. Before starting a family, she taught grades 9–12 in Loudoun County, Virginia. For a decade, Amy actively participated in the YoungLife Ministry, where she held various roles such as local high school leader and camp staff member.

After residing in Sean’s hometown of Newport, RI, for seven years, the Cassedy family relocated to Florida. They attend Grace Orlando Church. In her free time, Amy finds joy in spending quality time with her family, tending to her garden, exploring new places through travel, gathering with friends for delicious meals, and engaging in playtime with their English bulldog, Lola.
