TGS National Honor Society members volunteer to help our 3rd–6th grade students in the subjects of math and grammar.
Each Monday from 3:25–4:15 pm, a few NHS members tutor in room 203 of the lower school. This will not be a one-on-one tutoring time, but it will be an opportunity for students to bring work that they have found challenging and ask questions as our NHS volunteers circulate to answer their questions.
The sign-up will close Sunday night. There are 20 spots available.
Parents may pick up their children from room 203 at 4:15 pm. Students who are not picked up from the classroom at 4:15 pm by a parent or designated pickup person will be taken to aftercare and signed in, where aftercare fees will apply.
Fifth grade students visit the Environmental Learning Center in Vero Beach, Florida. While there, they rotate through three stations, learning about different components of the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem. All the activities are designed to illustrate how everything in the natural world fits together, interacts, and is interconnected. Students experience a 45-minute boat tour of the Indian River Lagoon, cultivating an appreciation for the lagoon, one of North America’s most diverse estuaries. Students develop a sense of stewardship for the earth’s limited resources and learn how individual actions directly affect the environment.
After reading the classic tale The Velveteen Rabbit, second graders gather with loved ones to assemble and sew a velveteen rabbit of their very own. This sewing party marks a time of laughter, collaboration, and determination as students work on this challenging yet rewarding project.

To kick off the Christmas season, students wear their Christmas pajamas to school and begin the morning eating pancakes. Each class has their official Christmas tree lighting ceremony, read Christmas stories, make Christmas crafts, and listen to Christmas music.

The dialectic Poetry Out Loud competition will consist of the top 12 students from the classroom competitions. This final event will take place on December 8th in the black box during FLEX time. All parents are welcome to come and enjoy these recitations.

As in The Giver, students will attend the Ceremony of 12 to be assigned their roles for life, then will perform those roles around campus for the next hour.
Parents are invite you to a faculty-led overview and discussion of CPM which is the math curriculum used in both the dialectic and rhetoric school.
Dr. Janet Andreasen, Geneva's Mathematics Specialist, and Mrs. Christine Miller, Geneva's math department head will be leading parents through the goals of the program, lesson design, and student achievement data.

Students visit Medieval Times in order to reflect upon their studies of the Middle Ages. Students tour a medieval village complete with artifacts, pictures, and historical specialists. Then students enjoy an educational presentation on medieval weapons and falconry. Finally, students are entertained by a live joust during a traditional feast.

Parents are welcome to attend the first annual rhetoric school Mr. Christmas Pageant, a holiday spoof of beauty pageants. Eight of our rhetoric school boys (two from each grade) will vie for the coveted title of Mr. Christmas. This is free and open to all.

The Christmas brunch is a morning breakfast celebrating the poetry unit and first semester. The students eat together and then share poetry that they have written in celebration of Christmas.
In the spirit of the gift-giving magi, first grade students entertain their parents and each other by sharing their talents. Expect to see anything from gymnastics to jokes in this charming performance! Afterward, students celebrate with a Christmas party in their classrooms.
