Students study the Scriptures starting with Genesis, beginning their second grade year learning about the order of God's creation. Parents are invited to join their children in a time of celebrating God's creation of the earth. Students spend the morning considering God's creation as they go through various centers.
The team building company, Ties That Bind, provides a portable challenge course to orchestrate a set of physical and mental challenges and activities for groups. Students learn from the experience of working together to overcome challenges presented by each activity. The facilitator provides a welcoming and positive forum for the students to analyze the activities and relate relevant situations.
The Geneva Parents Council is pleased to present Justin Whitmel Earley for a Great Conversation. Join us as we welcome Justin, who is a lawyer, author, and speaker from Richmond, Virginia. We look forward to hearing him speak and share about his book Habits of the Household, which explores how ordinary moments "become powerful acts of spiritual formation."
This event is open to the Geneva community as well as friends and family. Guests may enjoy light refreshments at 6:15 pm. Please RSVP to Carol Beth Haynes by Monday, September 2, at cbhaynes@genevaschool.org.
You can read more about Justin on his website HERE. You can also enjoy the book trailer for Habits of the Household using the link below.
Come as you are and join TGS moms as they pray for our TGS community. If you are a mom or grandma of a Geneva student, you are invited. No need to commit to every week; just come when you can. It really is the best way to start the week, covering our families in prayer … and establishing relationships with fellow prayer warriors. For more information, contact Christie Hudon at [email protected].
Our upper school's National Honor Society members graciously volunteer to help our 3rd–6th grade students with homework. Each Monday from 3:25–4:10 pm, a few NHS members volunteer as tutors in room 233 of the lower school (the Latin classroom).
This is an opportunity for students to work on homework and ask questions as the NHS volunteers circulate to answer their questions rather than a one-on-one tutoring time.
Sign-ups are open each Thursday through Sunday, or until all 20 spots are filled.
3rd–6th grade students who are signed up walk themselves to room 233 at dismissal time and parents may pick up from that classroom at 4:10 pm. Any students who are not picked up from the classroom at 4:10 pm by a parent or designated pickup person are taken to aftercare and signed in at this point and aftercare fees apply.
Fathers Watch invites dads and granddads to join for fellowship and to pray for and support the school, faculty, leadership, students, and families. Fathers Watch meets every other Friday: 8:00–9:30 am at the Breakfast Club of Tuskawilla (5965 Red Bug Lake Road, Winter Springs, 32708). Come early or after dropping children off at school. Email Glenn Goranson at [email protected] for more information.

This event is the culminating student activity to end the Camping/Great Outdoors unit study. The children share some music and movement songs around a pretend bonfire, go on a scavenger hike to look for items that begin with the letters they have learned in the classroom, and finish with a camp-time favorite snack.
After reading of the adventures of Magee and Dee in Camping Spree with Mr. Magee and The Courage of Sarah Noble, students take their own outdoor adventure to Wekiwa Springs State Park. Students experience the beauty of God's creation on this trip and are encouraged to take in as much wildlife as possible. A nature scavenger hunt and a playful game further develop a sense of community amongst the students and parents.

Students are introduced to the ad fontes approach in an age appropriate way, and discover that museums are places for thinking, learning, wonder, feeling, and growth.
Monastery Day is a dress up day when students spend the entire day praying and working in silence as they seek to experience what life was like in a medieval monastery. Students enjoy preparing the day's meal, serving others, and various other helpful tasks around the school. This special day culminates the end of a two-week history unit.
