Pioneer Day is a day to learn about the life of pioneer families as they traveled across America seeking a better life. Students experience various historical aspects of pioneer living with their "family."
Students sample authentic Chinese foods similar to those in Chinatown, New York City, to better understand The Cricket in Times Square. After having created their own home for Chester Cricket by decorating a matchbox earlier in the day, Chester appears in their matchbox at the end of the day.
TGS National Honor Society members volunteer to help our 3rd–6th grade students in the subjects of math and grammar.
Each Wednesday from 3:25–4:15 pm, a few NHS members tutor in room 203 of the lower school. This will not be a one-on-one tutoring time, but it will be an opportunity for students to bring work that they have found challenging and ask questions as our NHS volunteers circulate to answer their questions.
The sign-up link is sent to parents each week and stays open through from Thursday to Monday. There are 20 spots available.
Parents may pick up their children from room 203 at 4:15 pm. Students who are not picked up from the classroom at 4:15 pm by a parent or designated pickup person will be taken to aftercare and signed in, where aftercare fees will apply.
Fathers Watch invites dads and granddads to join for fellowship and to pray for and support the school, faculty, leadership, students, and families. As students participate in a reenactment of A.A. Milne's story "Eeyore's Friends Build a House," they demonstrate what they've learned about acting from their drama teacher. This event is done in conjunction with the reading of Winnie the Pooh in class. Doors open at 9:15 am.

To culminate their study of ancient Greece, students experience an authentic Greek feast and an afternoon of Olympic Games. Students compete in events such as javelin, discus, long jump, shot put, and running races to win awards for teamwork, leadership, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship.

Colonial Day is a culmination of the fifth grade early Colonial unit. The students give a speech about one of the thirteen original colonies, enjoy a colonial feast, and spend the afternoon as a colonial child crafting, playing parlor games, and outdoor games such as hoop and stick.

This culminating activity is a day of celebrtion for the unit study of early Florida natives. Students complete five centers, go to lunch and recess, then complete the remaining five centers.

As an integral part of their study of early Florida natives, first graders enjoy a presentation by Jimmy Sawgrass. He discusses many aspects of pre-colonial life in Florida, covering everything from music to shooting bows and arrows. In addition, students have the opportunity to see and handle many artifacts from this time period.
