Shannon Chambley

Kindergarten Teacher

Shannon Chambley joined the kindergarten teaching team at Geneva in 2020. As the oldest of five, she believes God’s call to work with young children came early in life. She earned a bachelor’s in elementary education from the University of Central Florida and began her teaching career with Seminole County Public Schools. Most recently, she served as the program administrator at First Years Preschool and Kindergarten, Oviedo, where she had the opportunity to impact hundreds of children and families with the love of Jesus and a high-quality early education. She was honored to represent faith-based providers on the board of the Early Learning Coalition and to visit preschool and kindergarten programs internationally to offer training. She is a contributing author to Distinctively Christian: A Christ-Centered Approach to Early Childhood Philosophy and Principles by Wheaton Press. In the fall of 2023, she released her first children’s book, What He Said to Me.

Shannon is married to her husband, Mike, and together they have three children—Sarah, Will, and Kensey (TGS Class of ’26)—and three grandchildren. Her best weekends are spent cheering for her youngest on the volleyball court and attending East Coast Believers Church. When she can carve out time for herself, she enjoys reading, hiking/walking, and sitting on the beach.

Pam Christy

Facilities Events/Inventory Coordinator

​After serving as a kindergarten aide for just over a year, Pam joined the facilities team in December 2024 and currently serves as the facilities events/inventory coordinator. Pam earned her bachelor’s degree in office administration and a master’s degree in counseling from Bob Jones University. She then worked for a few companies in business and management prior to staying home with her children. After her children started school, Pam worked in marketing, project management, and office management for a dental office for three years.

After researching private education options across the country, Pam and her husband, Shaun, moved from Pennsylvania to Florida in 2018 in order to educate their two children, Marietta (TGS Class of ’30) and Micah (TGS Class of ’34) at The Geneva School. The Christy family counts it a privilege to be a part of the Geneva community that not only helps instill a love of learning but also comes alongside families to direct hearts toward the love of God and others.

​When not working, Pam and her family enjoy bike riding, walking, reading, and time spent with family and friends. The Christy family has attended Orlando Grace Church since arriving in Florida. Pam’s motto has always been to bring glory to God in all that she does and wherever he places her.

Matt Clark

Art & Science Teacher

Matt Clark teaches upper school studio art as well as classes on Central Florida natural history. He has a strong interest in 2D art—primarily in drawing, watercolor, and printmaking. He can usually be found working furiously on his artist’s books. Matt has a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Central Florida and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Florida. Much of his work can be seen on Instagram @stlukesattic.

In addition to pursuing his artistic interests, Matt and his wife, Amy, have a busy family life. They have seven children, one daughter-in-law and a grandson. He keeps an unreasonable number of chickens and the odd wild-caught reptile here and there. Outside of the studio, he can be found wandering in the woods with his family looking for bugs and snakes and birds and interesting plants and….

Anna Classe

Photography / Graphic Designer

As a TGS Class of 2017 alumna, Anna Classe returned to The Geneva School as a photographer/graphic designer for the advancement team in 2021. Her love of design began as a student at Geneva, as she found inspiration in surrealist artists and began creating her own manipulated photographs on the computer. After graduating from TGS, Anna went to Palm Beach Atlantic University and graduated in 2021 with a degree in graphic arts and computer science. She is thrilled to be reunited with her Geneva family.

Although Anna enjoys working behind a computer, she also loves exploring new places and creating new memories to forever cherish in her heart. In her free time, Anna is either at Disney with her two sisters, spending quality time with friends, or playing with her cat, Yuki.

Anne Classe

Administrative Assistant to Dean of Students and Academic Support

Anne Classe joined Geneva’s student services team in 2021. In this role, she provides administrative support for programs and events designed to help students grow and succeed on their Geneva journey. One important part of her job is the coordination of individual service plans (ISPs) for students with learning differences. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside students and their families.

Before joining the student services team, Anne was on staff for several years with the school’s advancement team. She loved building community with parent and student volunteers during school-wide events such as SALT, the Geneva Annual Auction, Fall Festival, Meet the Teacher, and Grandparents Day.

As a proud Geneva mom since 2004, Anne is grateful to have witnessed the full expression of Geneva’s K4–12 Christian classical education. She is married to John, and they have three Geneva graduates (Anna ’17, Charlotte ’18, and Katie ’24). A Geneva education has provided her family with an abundance of opportunities for which she is truly grateful: the love of learning, authentic community, and an abiding faith in Jesus Christ.

Anne holds both a BA and MS in Communications from Florida State University. She lives in Winter Springs with her family.

Charlie Classe

Art Teacher

Charlie, a TGS alumna from the class of 2018, returned to Geneva in 2024. She currently teaches 3rd–6th grade art and leads the after school art classes. After working for the School of Art + Art History at the University of Florida and the education department at the Orlando Museum of Art, Charlie is grateful to once again be a part of the community that poured into her for so many years.

Charlie studied at Anderson University in South Carolina, earning her bachelor of arts in art education and art licensure. She then attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, developing an Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) art curriculum guide and earning her master of arts in art education.

As an artist, Charlie has had her work showcased at the Orlando Museum of Art and exhibited for organizations such as the National Art Education Association (NAEA). As an educator, Charlie strives to show her students that art has the potential to grant them a purpose, a medium to express themselves, a vehicle to advocate for the change they strive to see, and an opportunity to invoke the same passion in others.

Sarah Cloke

Sarah Cloke’s passion for Christian classical education was sparked in 1996 when she and her husband were searching out schooling options for their second grade son. A friend introduced them to Geneva, and from then on they were hooked.

After volunteering as a parent for many years, Sarah joined the TGS team as an employee in 2003. She taught Algebra I for a year and then transitioned to working in both the areas of operations and communications. In 2012 she joined the advancement team putting her organizational and technical skills to work. As the information coordinator, Sarah plays a pivotal role in maintaining The Geneva School website and managing the school’s many calendars. She also plays a major role in all the events organized by the advancement team such as the SALT Serveathon and the annual auction.

Sarah earned an MS in Mechanical Engineering from City University, London. She came to the United States in 1992 with her husband Gordon and two small children. Two more children, seven grandchildren, and over thirty years later, the Cloke family stayed in America in large measure so that their children would benefit from a Geneva education. All four of their children are Geneva graduates (Alex ’06, Fran ’08, Lily ’13, and Moira ‘15).

Sarah and her husband Gordon (who is a TGS board member) are active members at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Orlando. They are now officially empty nesters but are thrilled that their granddaughter Abella ’30 is now a second-generation Geneva student.

Leslie Coggins

Lower School Latin Teacher Mentor

Leslie Coggins joined the lower school fifth grade team in 2020 and currently teaches Latin to third through fifth grade students. She brings a broad range of experience in a variety of school settings in Florida, Kentucky, and Georgia. Her most rewarding teaching experience was helping to start The Habersham School, a classical academy in Savannah, Georgia. While there, she taught literature, history, and theology in fifth through seventh grade and later served as the dean of the lower school. Before coming to The Geneva School, she served as an exceptional student education (ESE) support facilitator in the Volusia County school system.

Leslie was born in San Antonio, Texas, but grew up in Volusia County. She graduated from Stetson University with a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. While at Stetson, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Leslie has three grown children: Emily (husband Scott), Chase (wife Sammie) and Ali. She also has many dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. She enjoys spending time with her children, reading, playing Scrabble, going to the beach, and cheering for the Florida State Seminoles! Leslie and her husband, Jim, live in DeLand and travel as much as possible. They attend church at Saint Andrew’s Chapel, Sanford.

Chelsea Corman

Receptionist

Chelsea joined The Geneva School reception team in the fall of 2024. The Corman family came to TGS in 2023, in large part due to Chelsea’s mother-in-law, Tami Corman, one of Geneva’s first grade teachers. They wholeheartedly believe in the mission of the school and have had a wonderful experience being a part of the Geneva community.

Since 2018, Chelsea and her husband, Taylor, have owned several businesses. Chelsea helps to run the day-to-day operations and has enjoyed serving the community within those businesses. Immediately prior to coming to Geneva, she also worked as a staffing specialist for two years.

In her spare time, Chelsea loves to cook and bake for her friends and family, travel with her husband, and exercise. She is blessed to be a small part of the amazing work being done at Geneva and she delights in working where her children, Charlotte (class of ‘34) and Braylon (class of ‘36), are going to school. She loves being present in their school lives and interacting with the school community.

Tami Corman

First Grade Teacher

Tami Corman joined the first grade team in 2022. She is an energetic and compassionate teacher, supporting the educational, social, and emotional needs of students with biblical truths. Tami loves collaborating with families to provide positive learning and developmental opportunities for students that help them reach their God-given potential.

Tami graduated from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction in Early Childhood and a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in reading. She taught kindergarten for eighteen years prior to coming to Geneva.

Tami and her husband, Dave, moved from Pennsylvania to Florida in April 2021 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Continuing to pursue God’s calling on her life and to live out a legacy with her family are some of the greatest gifts. She enjoys the beautiful beaches in Florida; spending time with her grandchildren; always reading for more knowledge and wisdom; and experiencing all outdoor activities with her husband to continue a healthy lifestyle. She is so grateful to be a part of the Geneva community and pour into the lives of her students.

Emily Costar

Third Grade Teacher

Emily joined the third grade teaching team in 2024. She is originally from Winter Park, FL, and has been a part of the Geneva community as a student from kindergarten through graduation and then as an alumna. After graduating from Geneva in 2020, she attended Baylor University, earning a BS in elementary education, class of 2024. Emily is thrilled to be back at Geneva as a teacher and delights in experiencing the Christ-centered community and the wonder and curiosity of the classroom.

Throughout her childhood, Emily loved school and playing “teacher” with her three younger siblings. However, it was not until high school that she discovered her passion for teaching. After serving in a leadership program at a Christian summer camp where she had the opportunity to lead elementary-aged girls, Emily realized that she wanted to pursue a career in teaching, and since then she has not looked back.

Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going for runs and long walks, playing all kinds of sports—especially soccer and pickleball—and playing board games. She loves trying new coffee shops as well as cooking new recipes. Emily is overjoyed that her teaching career is continuing at Geneva and loves how God works in and through the incredible Geneva community.

Tam Costar

Tam Costar began serving as director of admission in August 2018. Tam and her husband Chuck have been Geneva parents since their oldest child started kindergarten in 2007. She also served as an enthusiastic member of the board of governors from 2014–2019. She is very engaged with the parent community, having two active children at the school: Caroline ’26, and Baker ’27. Her oldest daughter, Emily (TGS Class of 2020) is a recent Baylor University graduate in elementary education while her second child, Kate (TGS Class of 2022), attends Clemson University in South Carolina.

Tam earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University in 1989 and completed the executive MBA program at the Crummer School at Rollins College, graduating in 1999. She worked in the healthcare industry for over twenty-two years in a variety of roles with Merck, Boston Scientific, and Amgen. Her favorite undertaking, however, has been serving Geneva as the Director of Admissions and meeting the wonderful families that are choosing Christian classical education for their own children.

Karen Daniels

Receptionist

Karen Daniels currently serves as one of Geneva’s receptionists. She originally joined the Geneva community as a parent in 2002 and then re-joined in 2014 after God blessed their family with twin girls. After experiencing a variety of education models, she developed a strong commitment to Christian classical education and is grateful to have her two youngest children enrolled at TGS. In 2019, she began substitute teaching and in 2023, took on the role as one of Geneva’s receptionists. She enjoys serving the Geneva community and has been blessed to get to know many students and teachers.

Raised in Central Florida, Karen obtained a BS in Marketing from UCF and later an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. After a successful career in sales and finance, she became a keeper at home for many years.
Karen is married to Jim and together they have four children: Blake, Brad, and twin girls, Emma and Amanda, both TGS Class of 26. They are active members at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church. For fun, Karen enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and simply hanging out with immediate and their big extended family!

Katie Deatherage

Katie Deatherage has served on The Geneva School’s advancement team since the fall of 2010 and currently serves as the director of advancement. She brings to the position a wealth of fundraising experience having served as a development officer at Rollins College for seven years. While at Rollins, Katie’s work focused on three distinct areas of development: Rollins’ annual fund, athletic fundraising, and major gift solicitation. Additionally, she has augmented her practical fundraising with significant coursework through C.A.S.E. (Council for the Advancement and Support for Education) and Indiana University’s School of Philanthropy.

Katie holds a BA in English Literature from Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she continues to serve as a class agent, providing volunteer solicitation work for the school’s annual fund. Katie and her husband Clay have two children: Mary Boyce and Ellie Closs (TGS Class of 33).

Nick DeGroot

Latin Teacher

Magister DeGroot has been part of the TGS faculty since 2008. He teaches the language and literature of the ancient Greeks and Romans in the upper school. He earned his MA in Greek and Latin literature from the Florida State University and his BA from Milligan College in east Tennessee. Outside of school he enjoys spending time on the water with his family, reading the Classics, woodworking, and mechanical work.

Andrea DiBartolomeo

Third Grade Teacher

Andrea joined The Geneva School third grade team in 2024, bringing with her over twenty years of experience as an elementary school teacher. Andrea graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2002 with a BS in elementary education. Five years later, the Lord called her to pursue mission work in Uganda where she taught kindergarten through third grade with The Rafiki Foundation. This experience in Africa profoundly impacted her.

Upon returning to the US, Andrea’s passion for education deepened, leading her to pursue a master’s degree in exceptional education from UCF, while still continuing to teach each year. Prior to coming to Geneva, she taught first through third grade for seven years in an underserved community of Orlando.

Andrea’s love for children fuels her desire to partner with parents in fostering a Christ-centered environment where students recognize their inherent value in Jesus Christ. Outside of teaching, Andrea enjoys an active lifestyle filled with paddleboarding, beach trips, tennis, playing with her five nieces and nephews, and is an active member at University Presbyterian Church.

Ethan Doran

Facilities Assistant

Ethan joined The Geneva School facilities team in November 2024. He has a background in residential house building, commercial construction, and campus maintenance. Ethan brings a wealth of specialized experience in ensuring operational excellence as well as quality control.

Born and raised in Central Florida, Ethan resides in Sanford with his wife, Rachel, where they enjoy staying active through fitness. They also appreciate the Orlando food scene as well as the occasional game of Dungeons and Dragons. Ethan’s love for the Lord is what motivates his dedication to The Geneva School community.

Bob Down

Head Baseball Coach

Bob has enjoyed a lifetime in baseball as both a player and a coach. He played at Palm Beach Atlantic University, winning the team’s “Rookie of the Year” award, and at the College of Boca Raton. Bob has played in and managed a national semi-professional team and led them to the league’s World Series several times.

Bob came to Geneva in 2014 and brought with him many years of coaching experience at the high school level. He coached at The Master’s Academy for ten years, seven years as the head varsity baseball coach leading the team to a district championship and several regional appearances. Bob also coached at Orangewood Christian School where he led the team to a district championship, regional championship, and eventually to the state championship game. Most recently, Bob was an assistant coach at The First Academy. Aside from his high school coaching, Bob has also coached various levels of AAU/travel ball teams. During his coaching career, Bob has coached several players who have enjoyed collegiate careers at the NCAA D1 level including several who have played in the College World Series. He has also coached players who are currently playing at different levels, including two who are currently playing in the major leagues.

Bob and his wife Janie have been married since 1988, and they have four children: Bobby, Joey, Tony, and Tiffany.

Joey Down

Assistant Facilities Manager / Assistant Baseball Coach

Joey Down graduated from the University of Florida in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in sport management. Upon graduation, he took a role as an event manager intern with Safe Management in Jacksonville, Florida. After completing his internship, Joey returned to Central Florida and took on the role of assistant facility manager at TGS, primarily taking care of the athletic facilities. Joey brings a great amount of experience, having managed over 300 events from middle school soccer games to top tier concerts. He has managed at venues with crowds ranging from a few dozen people to major events with more than 10,000 people.

In addition to his role as an assistant facility manager, Joey has served as Geneva’s strength and conditioning coach since 2019 and assistant baseball coach since 2014. Joey brings with him more than eight years of experience as well as multiple training certifications. Over his career, Joey has trained hundreds of athletes across all sports. These athletes include those from the youth level all the way to college athletes.

When not working, Joey enjoys advocating for people with disabilities, specifically those who are blind or visually impaired. Additionally, Joey also enjoys attending sporting events and traveling. Joey attends Willow Creek Church in Winter Springs.

Mark Dunn

Mark Dunn came to Geneva in January 2023 and teaches 3rd–6th grade physical education and serves in student formation where he oversees the Ambassador Program. He has over thirty-three years of teaching, administrative, and leadership experience in the public school system in Northern California and in Seminole County. During his tenure, he has taught physical education, English language arts, social studies, leadership, and life skills classes. He has also coached basketball from elementary to high school along with flag football, volleyball, and soccer at the middle school level. His desire to see all students grow and learn has placed him in multiple leadership roles focusing on student achievement and intervention, curriculum development, school culture, and student engagement and mentorship programs.

Mark earned his BS in Physical Education from California State University, East Bay, with a secondary focus in K–9 English. His pursuit of teaching and coaching came from experiencing and seeing the significant impact one can have on students’ lives. His desire is to help shape and mold young people to understand their uniqueness as God’s children and image bearers, and to help form their character after the likeness of Jesus.

Native Californians, Mark and his wife, Amy, have settled down in Central Florida so that they can be closer to their family. They have two married children and four grandchildren. He enjoys spending time doing absolutely anything and everything with his family but also loves a good hike in the mountains, exercising, playing various sports, and reading.

Katrina Faith

Fifth Grade Aide

The Faith family joined the Geneva family in 2013 when they moved from Tennessee to Florida with their five children.  That fall, the three older children enrolled at Geneva – Laura (’19), Elizabeth (’22) and Lydia (’24). Three years later in 2016 the two younger children enrolled—William (’29) and Anna (’30)—and Katrina joined the fifth grade team as a teacher’s aide.

Katrina earned a BS in Family and Consumer Sciences from Carson Newman University and an MBA from the University of Tennessee. Before having children, she worked as an assistant buyer for a regional department store. She loves her family, traveling, photography, and enjoying God’s creation.

Dawn Flood

English Teacher

Dawn Flood joined the Geneva faculty in 2023 and teaches seventh grade English. With over twenty years of experience in education, she has taught fourth, seventh, and eighth grade as well as classes in speech and debate, literature, humanities, drama, and theater history. During her years as a school administrator, Dawn served in various roles including teacher coach, director of academics, and, most recently, dean of students.

Dawn’s time in and around the classroom has forged the belief that the most important goal of education is to inspire students to love learning and to seek truth. Ultimately, truth is found in Christ and his Word, but everything that he created can inspire creativity, goodness, and beauty. She desires to inspire students to seek after these things in order that their education will do more than simply impart knowledge, but it will serve to further cultivate their character and direct them towards the Lord Jesus Christ: the source of all that is good and true.

Dawn studied education and theater at Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana. It was there that she met her husband, Mark. Upon graduation, they were married and moved to Pennsylvania where Mark began his career in pastoral ministry. They have two children: Jedidiah (TGS class of ’24) and Arianna (TGS class of ’26). In her spare time, Dawn enjoys cheering on the Orlando Solar Bears, visiting Disney with her family, and reading a good book with a hot cup of coffee and her dog, Dasher, by her side.

Lou Ford

Science Teacher

Lou Ford came to Geneva in 2017 and teaches science in the rhetoric school. He earned the Rensselaer Medal for Science and Mathematics when he was in high school, and his enjoyment of science and math led him to earn a BS in Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He later completed an MA in Religion and more graduate work in manufacturing engineering, computer science, systematic theology, and ethics.

Lou began his engineering career providing concept formulation documentation for training systems and continued with bounding analyses on the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI, aka “Star Wars”) with a report published by the USAF in 1987. Since then he has published numerous additional reports on a variety of training-related topics. He also implemented a robotic system for refurbishing the space shuttle’s solid rocket boosters in 1990. In 1994 he received a Certificate of Appreciation Award from the Army for his work on the Crisis Action Model, and in 2002 received a STRICOM STAR Team Award for work on the IEWTPT program. For several years he wrote telemetry development and processing software for theater missile defense targets and has engineered several multi-million dollar projects for large companies. His recent engineering involved fielding mobile ad-hoc networks for video, audio, and data capture for after-action review purposes to train soldiers in counter-IED techniques.

Lou has many eclectic interests that include Christian history, apologetics, literature, philosophy, music, and acoustics. The integrated learning at TGS fits with his thinking. He lives in Oviedo with his wife Joy, two sons Josh (TGS Class of 2018) and Jonathan, and a dog.

Scott R Forrester

English and Drama Teacher

Scott R Forrester is a Detroit native who knows surprisingly little about cars, but far more about hockey than is strictly necessary in life. Scott joined The Geneva School in 2015 with fifteen years of teaching experience, primarily in Christian classical school. He brings with him a love of great literature and drama, a fascination with God’s hand at work in history, and a desire to pursue true humanity in imitation of Christ. He currently teaches theatre and English, and enjoys the challenge of growing in wisdom and grace alongside his students.

Scott is a firm believer that you can’t judge a book by its cover, but you can get a pretty good measure of a man by looking at his library. This is especially important because he claims to have “learned to read” only after attending Hillsdale College where he majored in the classical discipline of political economy and minored in both English and Christian studies. It was in college that Scott discovered a desire to learn he could never have imagined growing up, and fell in love with the collaborative art of theatre.

Scott met his beautiful wife Orie (pronounced OH-dee-ay) while teaching on the mission field in Japan. They have been married since 1997 and have two daughters, Kiri Anne (’20) and Moira Kate (’22), both of whom attended Geneva. The Forrester clan attends Saint Andrew’s Chapel, Sanford.

Ryan Fraser

Greek Teacher

Ryan Fraser rejoined the Geneva faculty in 2024 to teach Greek to rhetoric students. A Florida native, he attended the University of South Florida, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts in classics. He went on to earn a master of arts in biblical studies (Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando) and a master of arts in applied linguistics (Dallas International University). Following his studies, Ryan taught Greek, Hebrew, and Latin at the high school, college, and seminary levels. He and his wife were also involved in Bible translation in Brazil.

Ryan loves spending time with his wife and three kids. He also enjoys reading, cooking, and being outdoors. The Frasers attend St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Orlando.

Matt Frazer

Latin and Spanish Teacher

Matt Frazer has been teaching since 2002. He has taught a variety of courses in literature, history, writing, Latin, Greek, and Spanish. He has a BA in English and Classics from the University of Florida and an MA in Classics from the University of Kentucky, where he also earned the graduate certificate in spoken and written Latin from the Institutum Studiis Latinis Provehendis. In 2009, he earned an MFA in poetry writing from the University of Florida. He is the author of two Latin books: Marcus Mirandus and Marcus Captus.

Matt and his wife Elizabeth have three children, including two Geneva graduates. Outside of the classroom, Matt’s interests include poetry, music, hiking, camping, and gardening.

Kelly Fredrickson

First Grade Aide

Kelly joined the Geneva first grade team in 2024 and serves as an aide. She was born and raised in Maryland and moved to Pennsylvania after she and her husband, Greg, were married. They relocated to Central Florida with their two daughters in 2004, the year of the four big hurricanes.

Jesus found Kelly through the ministry of YoungLife when she was a high school sophomore. After being discipled by YoungLife, and then InterVarsity Fellowship in college, she served in church youth ministries for over twenty-five years. Motivated by her own story, she loves to see students connect to Christ.

The Fredricksons love all the water activities Florida has to offer, from neighborhood pools to kayaking or paddleboarding on local lakes to hitting one of the coasts for ocean sunsets or sunrises. Currently, they are seeking hiking destinations and state parks to visit together for family vacations. Greg and Kelly are members of Oviedo City Church and lead a small group.

Sarah Fulginiti

Sarah Fulginiti began serving Geneva in 2022 as a substitute school nurse and took on the position of upper school nurse in 2023. She is excited to be able to care for the health needs of the Geneva community.

Sarah graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 1988 with a BS in Nursing. Since then, she has worked in a variety of settings ranging from in- and out-patient oncology to a crisis pregnancy clinic. Sarah took many years off from her nursing career to pursue her calling as a stay-at-home (and sometimes homeschooling) mom to her five children. Her youngest child, James (TGS Class of 2026), has been at TGS since fourth grade.

Sarah has been married to John, a physician, for over thirty years. For the past several years, she has been assisting in his health and wellness practice. Together, they enjoy traveling to see their kids (and grandkids) in many far-flung places. Sarah also enjoys being active at their church, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, volunteering with Commission 127 (a ministry to foster families), reading, trying new recipes, and going to the beach.

Jessie Gilmartin

Third Grade Teacher

Jessie Gilmartin joined Geneva’s lower school faculty in 2023 and currently teaches third grade.
She graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, in 2000 with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Early Childhood Education. Jessie married her husband, Rick, that same year and began her teaching career in Harrisonburg teaching in a Head Start program with three- and four-year-olds. The following year, they relocated to Oviedo for Rick to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. During this time, Jessie worked for three years as a kindergarten teacher at Eastbrook Elementary School in Winter Park. They then returned to the Shenandoah Valley in 2005 when Rick accepted a call to a church in Waynesboro, VA, as a worship and discipleship director before planting a new church in Staunton, VA, in 2009.

Jessie was busy as a pastor’s wife and stay-at-home mom with her four children for the next fourteen years. Madi was born in Orlando before they moved back to Virginia. Becca, Andrew, and Luke followed not too many years later. Jessie enjoyed being at home and serving alongside Rick in ministry. In December 2022, the Lord led the Gilmartin family back to Orlando, and Rick is now the lead pastor at University Presbyterian Church. The family is adjusting to this huge life change while seeing so many of God’s blessings along the way.

The Gilmartins joined the Geneva family in January 2023 when their youngest child, Luke, enrolled in eighth grade. Their son Andrew enrolled in tenth grade in the fall of 2023. When Jessie isn’t taxi driving and shepherding four teenagers at home, she is also helping with the children’s ministry at UPC. She enjoys walking/running to various playlists she has created and going to the beach to relax. Jessie also loves taking pictures and creating albums and family scrapbooks when she has the time. She loves to read, watch movies with her family, travel to new places, and meet friends for coffee.
