Percussio Orff Ensemble (3rd–6th)
Percussio is an Orff ensemble where students play beautiful soprano, alto, and bass xylophones, along with metallophones, glockenspiels, and hand percussion. The ensemble combines instruments with speech, movement, and song. New this year: fun songs like Baby Shark and The Lion Sleeps Tonight!
Percussio students learn eye-hand coordination, listening skills, and musical concepts while having fun! In rehearsal students use teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking to focus on learning music that honors God. Students learn new repertoire, correct playing technique, and strategies to help them develop as a growing musician.
All students in 3rd–6th grade are welcome! No audition is required, but previous music experience (reading notes and rhythms) helps students to learn their parts. During rehearsals at school, students are asked to read note names, rhythms, and memorize mallet patterns. Some practice at home may be necessary. Materials and instructions will be provided by Mrs. Rowe as needed.
