The varsity beach volleyball team aims to compete at a high level. Considering the program is only in its second season, the team competes well against other local programs and continues to grow in numbers. In addition to the varsity team (6–8 pairs), we have a developmental program working alongside the varsity players throughout the spring. There are many opportunities for players to be involved as early as seventh grade.
Jackson Benjumea has served as the head beach volleyball coach at Geneva since the inception of the program in 2017. He began his beach career in Miami where he trained with Gaston Macau. Jackson played in several AVP qualifiers and has played in the professional east coast circuit since 2000. Jackson played with and against several professional beach players such as Phil Dalhauser, Nick Lucena, Steve Grotowski, and Hudson Bates. He has a passion for teaching the sport and volunteered as the UCF men’s club coach in 2015. He has worked with people of all ages and backgrounds to help them grow in the fundamentals and knowledge of the game. Coach Benjumea continues to play locally with tours such as Volleyamerica and Dig The Beach, and is excited about growing the game at the high school level.
Jackson works as a physical therapy assistant at Florida Hospital and is married to Geneva’s head volleyball coach Hollie Benjumea. Hollie and Jackson have a daughter, Cassia, born December 2015.
