The goal of the Geneva golf team is to teach and encourage young athletes in the beautiful game of golf. We desire that each individual player grows and develops not just as a player, but also learns lessons useful for the whole of life. The team competes at golf courses throughout the Orlando area with the home course at Tuscawilla Country Club. Geneva golf has been competing since 1999 with Greg Hickok coaching since 2004 and Ron joining the coaching staff in 2018. During the 2017 season, the boys team was undefeated 11-0. We compete well, learn to play well, and have a good time doing it!
Greg Hickok has been the head coach of Geneva’s boys’ varsity golf team since 2005. Interest in golf began in his late teen years when he would regularly play in a foursome with his father and two older brothers. He received his coaching certification from the Wally Armstrong School of Golf in 1998 and has been coaching in some capacity ever since. He was coach for the Metro Life golf team and at two local driving ranges. “Teaching the students at The Geneva School has become a much-anticipated time in my schedule. “The commitment of parents and faculty is evident and I also am committed to helping the students know and understand the game of golf.”
Ron Wood began working with Geneva’s girls golf team in 2018. He views his coaching and mentoring of the girls as an extension of his ministry as a full-time associate pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Orlando. Ron earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications with an emphasis in sports broadcasting from the University of Florida in 1997. He also earned an associate’s degree in golf management from The Golf Academy of America in 1999 and is pursuing certification as a professional golf teacher from the Professional Golf Teachers Association of America. Ron is currently enrolled at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary where he is seeking a MA in Pastoral Studies. He has been married to his wife Sabrina since October 2002. They have one daughter Selah ’30, whom they adopted from Armenia in 2014.
Inspiring students to love beauty, think deeply, and pursue Christ's calling.
